Product Description
16 Jar Filled Revolving Wood Spice RackAmazon.com Review
This revolving spice rack takes the challenge out of keeping herbs and spices organized. On the countertop or in a tall kitchen cabinet, it holds 16 clear glass jars prefilled with a variety of seasonings. Measuring 10-1/2 inches tall and made of natural wood, the rack maintains jars on their side, so it’s easy to read the label printed on the cap. Each rack comes with a different set of common herbs

First, the product description says the unit measures 11.8 X 7.5
Then further in the product review, it states the rack measures 10 1/2 by 5 3/4. Well, the unit actually measures 11″ high by 6″ wide. Then, it states TWICE in the description that the rack comes with 16 GLASS containers filled with spices. The containers are a cheap PLASTIC.
Based on the product review, I purchased 2 Racks to give as gifts, but after the mis-measurement and flimsy Plastic containers ( that will eventually hold odors), I promptly returned them. Amazon.com should really correct this innacurate & misleading product listing.

First of all, the spices (packed in the USA) consisted of the following: Chopped Basil, Chopped Bay Leaves, Caraway Seed, Celery Salt, Coriander Seed, Crushed Mint, Dill Weed, Italian Seasoning, Marjoram, Mustard Seed, Oregano, Parsley, Pizza Seasoning, Rosemary, Savory and Thyme. All of these have some fairly common uses and I would encourage the reader to purchase ‘The Spice and Herb Bible’ by Ian Hemphill which will go into some detail on each.
What really irritates me is that (perhaps due to the latest spike in oil prices)the spices were packaged in plastic rather than in the preferred, heavier weight glass jars. Since none of the other reviewers pointed this out, it must be a fairly recent change.
The wooden carousel is glued rather than nailed or joined so, over time, it will come apart.

I like the design of this spice rack. It doesn’t take up much space in the kitchen and is easily accessible due to its’ rotating base. Some of the spices are things I’ve never heard of despite years of cooking items of different tastes. One of the lids wouldn’t screw in right, and some of the jars won’t fit into some of the holes. It’s a quality beech wood item though, and the spices are all fresh and quality.

The main problem was that over half of the jars had broken caps. Some were actuallt in tiny pieces.

I think that overall this is a great product. It looks great and has a very practical design. The only problem that I have with it is that some of the spices are not practical. Personally, I would have preferred some others instead of Corriander & Mustard Seed. However I have found identical glass jars for as little as $.69, made my own labels and just filled them with the spices I preferred. All in all I would recommend this product.
