I broke my old pestle and it was difficult to decide on a replacement. Stone seemed like a sexier choice, but stainless won out. It is non-reactive to anything I put in it. Great shape: the high sides keep everything in the bowl as I work and pushes the food to the bottom so it grinds quicker. The weighted, skid-resistent base makes it so much less clumsy to use. The pestle is ergonomically friendly. I’m extremely pleased with this product.

I really did my research when buying a mortar and pestle for my mom’s Christmas present. This was by far the best I’ve found on Amazon and brick-and-mortar stores. The non-skid base is heavy and stays put while grinding, and the pestle is also nice and heavy and grinds smoothly against the bowl. It makes grinding seeds a pleasure. I love that it, as stainless steel, is unbreakable as we are a clumsy bunch. It is hand wash only but it’s really easy to clean. The surface is smooth but still has enough friction to grind all my spices. The bowl is also a generous size but not too difficult to manage. I highly recommend this product.

I chose this item after reading the other reviews. I needed something to crush dry dog food. This pestle easily chops it. I am very happy I bought it! The quality is nice, it is easy to use. It is one of the larger ones and is heavy and pure stainless. It arrived well-packaged. I love it.

for this size, in this price range this is likely the top of the mountain in materials,design, and function. works good with everything so far, heavy duty or not.
did have one issue, the non slip bottom fell off really fast- but it still functions fine, the glue just doesn’t stick (and none i can find) to the rubber they used. so when you wash it ether be very careful not to disturb the glue, or do what i do and just take the bottom off while washing it.
not listed or described in the product description is that the upper part of the pestle is obviously hallow, and the lower is weighted… but probably not entirely solid. it is still heavy enough to do the job without fault, but being picky i wish it was solid.
overall great product, especially for under $30
